The Junior Age

Newspaper Writing Workshop at Strawberry Fields School, Chandigarh

The Junior Age conducted an engaging newspaper writing workshop at Strawberry Fields School, Chandigarh, on 16 October 2025. The workshop was conducted by Ms Divyata Shergill, Founder and Editor of The Junior Age, who guided the students through every part of the newsroom process. The session opened a window into the world of journalism and showed students how a newspaper truly comes to life. They learned everything from spotting a good story to understanding how proofreading, fact-checking and headline crafting work behind the scenes. The students were curious, interactive, and full of questions. Once they realised how much teamwork and attention to detail go into each edition, their excitement only grew. They tried their hand at writing short news pieces and learnt how reporters gather information and shape it into clear, kid-friendly stories. The workshop helped them think like young journalists, building confidence along the way. Based on their effort and interest, the students will soon be contributing to one of the upcoming editions of The Junior Age. So, their learning will not end with the workshop; it will continue on the pages of the newspaper itself, giving them a chance to shine as young writers.
