The researchers analysed 276 studies involving 54 lakh participants aged 5-19 years from 50 countries. They also found a rise from 24% of young people with myopia in 1990 to 36% in 2023. The researchers have warned that too much screen time may explain children’s worsening eyesight. They have advised that children should do more physical activity outdoors.
