Meet The Six Times Cricket World Champions Australia

Australia won the 13th edition of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup by defeating India by six wickets in the final on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

With this win, the Aussies clinched their historic sixth ODI World Cup title. The Australian side was led to victory by their captain Pat Cummins. The Australian cricket team is the most successful team in the tournament’s history. With eight appearances in 13 finals, the Australian side has also featured in the most finals in the tournament.

Australia’s Travis Head was declared the Player of the Match of the finals. He scored 137 runs off 120 balls.

Glenn Maxwell Is The First Australian To Score A Double Hundred In The ODIs And It Was The First-Time A Double Century Was Scored In A Run Chase.

This year, Australia has also won the World Test Championship final in England defeating India. They also won the Ashes.

In 2003, Australia had won the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup by defeating India!

With this win Australia has won the World Cup title 6 times viz. 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015, and 2023.

It is the only country to have won six World Cup titles until now.

They are also the only team to have won three Cricket World Cups in a row – 1999, 2003, and 2007.

Indian Plans To Bid To Host The 2036 Olympics

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India will bid to host the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Poland and Indonesia have also expressed interest in hosting the 2036 Olympics.

He said that “India will leave no stone unturned in the preparation for the successful organisation of the Olympics in 2036 – this is the dream of the 140 crore Indians”. No firm time frame has been set by the IOC for when the hosting rights for the 2036 Games will be award-ed. The 2036 Summer Games is the next available edition: Paris will host in 2024, Los Angeles in 2028, and Brisbane in 2032.

Video Games To Be Considered For The Olympics

You heard us right! The International Olympic Committee (“IOC”) has said that it is considering the possibility of including e-sports (video games) in the Olympic Games.

This announcement was made by the IOC President Bach at the opening ceremony of the 141 st IOC Session in Mum-bai. The IOC recognises that video games are popular with the billions of people under the age of 34 years.

Asian Games 2023

The 19th Asian Games 2023 were held in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8. India reached an unprecedented milestone of 107 medals (28 gold, 38 silver, and 41 bronze) at the Asian Games 2023. India finished 4th in the overall medal’s tally.

This is the first time in history, India has achieved this remarkable feat. Team India’s previous best was set at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta. China topped the list with 383 medals.

Novak Djokovic Wins US Open For Record-Equalling 24th Grand Slam Title

The 36- year-old tennis star from Serbia, Novak Djokovic won the US Open final by defeating Danil Medvedev. He has become the first player to win 24 Grand Slams in the Open Era, which began in 1968. He has won three of the four Grand Slam titles in 2023, becoming the first man to achieve this feat on four occasions. In winning 24 grand slam titles, Djokovic now equals Australian Margaret Court’s record.

Teen Tennis Star Wins Her First Grand Slam

American teenager Coco Gauff has won the US Open tournament for the first time. The 19-year-old beat Belarusian player Aryna Sabalenka in a nail-biting final. This win makes her the youngest American to win a major tennis championship since 1999. Cori Gauff, who’s nicknamed “Coco”, made headlines when in 2019 she became the youngest player (at 15 years and 122 days) to qualify for the main Wimbledon draw since the professional era began in 1968. The US Open is her first major title win.
