The Indian Parliament has passed a new law called the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025 (“Online Gaming Bill”). This law was signed by the President just one day after both Houses of Parliament approved it. Both Houses of Parliament approved the Online Gaming Bill, which bans all forms of money-based online games while promoting e-sports and safe online social gaming. The President’s assent will be followed by an official notification that sets the date for the legislation to come into force. The law bans all online games where people must pay money to win cash prizes. It was created to stop problems like cheating, gambling addiction, and money loss.
