End of an Era: India Discontinues Registered Post After 50 Years of Service

The Indian Postal Department has announced the discontinuation of its iconic Registered Post service starting September 1, 2025. From September 1, 2025, the iconic Registered Post service will be merged with and upgraded into Speed Post. This change is part of a strategic integration aimed at modernising the postal system. Speed Post is faster, offers online tracking, and provides proof of delivery, though it costs slightly more than Registered Post.

NCERT Introduces Operation Sindoor Modules for Students

The National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT) has taken a historic step by creating special learning modules on Operation Sindoor for students of classes 3 to 12. These modules aim to teach children about an important chapter in India’s recent history—Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, 2025.

Why Operation Sindoor?

Operation Sindoor was India’s strong and strategic response to the terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent people. To ensure that students understand both the seriousness of terrorism and the courage of India’s armed forces, NCERT has designed interactive and age-appropriate lessons.

What Students Will Learn

The modules cover different aspects of Operation Sindoor in a way children can easily understand:

  • How the Indian Air Force and missile units carried out precise strikes, destroying terrorist bases while avoiding civilian harm.
  • The role of advanced defense systems like the S-400, which successfully intercepted enemy planes and drones.
  • Stories of bravery, unity, and patriotism that inspired the whole nation.

National Unity and Patriotism

Beyond military strategy, the modules also emphasize how citizens across India came together. People held candlelight marches, organized peace rallies, and raised their voices against terrorism. This national solidarity is an important message for young learners, showing them the power of unity in difficult times.

By including Operation Sindoor in classrooms, NCERT is not just teaching about a military operation—it is instilling values of courage, responsibility, and unity among children. This initiative ensures that the next generation grows up with both awareness and pride in India’s resilience.
