Some sports stories feel almost unreal. This is one of them. After more than a century, cricket is officially returning to the Olympic Games. The last time cricket was played at the Olympics was way back in 1900. Now, after 128 long years, the bat-and-ball sport is set to make a historic comeback, bringing huge excitement to fans across the world, especially in cricket-loving countries like India.
Cricket will return to the Olympics at the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane, Australia. The decision was approved by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), making cricket one of several new sports added to the Games.
The format will be T20 cricket, the shortest and fastest version of the game, making it perfect for the Olympic stage.

When was cricket last played at the Olympics?
Cricket was last seen at the 1900 Paris Olympics, where only two teams competed, Great Britain and France. Great Britain won the gold medal. After that, cricket disappeared from the Olympics for over a century.
Cricket’s global popularity has exploded. It is played passionately across Asia, Australia, England, Africa, and the Caribbean. T20 cricket, with its quick matches and big hits, has made the sport even more exciting and viewer-friendly. Adding cricket also helps the Olympics attract younger audiences and fans from cricket-crazy nations.
