India To Host 2028 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Bhubaneswar

India is set to host another major global sporting event as the country continues to expand its role in international athletics. The decision highlights India’s growing reputation as a destination capable of organising large-scale sporting competitions and world-class events. The World Athletics Council has announced that India will host the 2028 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. It will be the first time India hosts this prestigious global indoor athletics championship.

India To Host 2028 World Athletics Indoor Championships:

The competition will take place at the Kalinga Stadium, which features a modern indoor athletics facility designed to host international competitions. The event will be organised by the Athletics Federation of India in partnership with the Government of Odisha, which has been actively developing Bhubaneswar as a global sports hub.

The championships will bring top athletes from more than 150 countries to compete in indoor track and field events. These include the 60-metre sprint, hurdles, long jump, pole vault, high jump, and shot put, among other disciplines.

Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Stadium has already hosted several major international tournaments. These include the 2018 Men’s Hockey World Cup and multiple matches in the FIH Pro League. Officials say hosting the World Athletics Indoor Championships will further strengthen India’s presence in global sports and attract athletes and fans from around the world.
