World Leaders Gather for India AI Impact Summit 2026

India hosted one of the world’s biggest gatherings on artificial intelligence. An AI summit is a global meeting where world leaders and technology experts come together to discuss how artificial intelligence can be used safely and smartly to help people. The India AI Impact Summit 2026 took place from 16 to 20 February at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. It explored how intelligent technology can support people, protect the planet and drive progress in responsible ways. It was among the largest global AI events hosted in India and one of the first major AI impact summits led by a developing nation.

The AI Summit centred around three key ideas: People, Planet and Progress.

Discussions focused on using AI not only safely but also efficiently. Experts explored how artificial intelligence can improve healthcare, education, farming, climate action, and public services worldwide.

Who hosted it?

The event was hosted by the Government of India under the IndiaAI Mission and led by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The AI Summit supported India’s national plan to build responsible, inclusive and accessible AI systems while expanding computing power, datasets and skill training.

World leaders and tech experts discussed how countries can work together to create safe, fair and responsible AI rules. New international partnerships were announced to develop AI tools for healthcare, education, farming and public services, along with stronger research collaboration.

India shared its goal of making affordable and inclusive AI for developing nations and highlighted its role in supporting the Global South. The summit also focused on boosting startups, innovation and preparing people for future AI jobs and skills, showing how artificial intelligence will shape the years ahead.
