Lipin Ete won one gold medal and one silver medal at the USA Open Karate Championship 2026, held in Texas, United States. She competed in the Karate Kata category, a discipline where athletes perform precise sequences of movements that demonstrate technique, balance and control. With this achievement, Lipin Ete became the first athlete from Arunachal Pradesh and the Northeast region of India to win medals at this prestigious tournament. The USA Open Karate Championship is one of the largest karate competitions in the world, attracting top martial artists from across the globe.
At the 2026 event, more than 3,500 athletes from around 40 countries participated, representing regions including the United States, Europe and Asia. Competing against such strong international talent, Lipin Ete’s double-medal performance placed India firmly on the global karate map. Pema Khandu congratulated her on social media, calling the achievement a proud moment for Arunachal Pradesh, Northeast India and the entire country.

Kata is a form of karate where athletes perform a series of choreographed movements, including punches, kicks and blocks, against imaginary opponents. Judges score the performance based on precision, strength, balance and timing.
