Football fans, it is time to start the countdown. FIFA has unveiled the match schedule for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027, confirming when and where all 64 matches will be played across Brazil. The tournament will run from 24 June to 25 July 2027, with 32 teams competing across eight host cities. It will also be the first FIFA Women’s World Cup to be held in South America.

What is the FIFA Women’s World Cup?
The FIFA Women’s World Cup is the biggest international football tournament for women’s national teams. Held every four years, it brings together the best teams from around the world to compete for the world title. The 2027 edition will be the 10th FIFA Women’s World Cup and will be hosted by Brazil.
When does the Women’s FIFA World Cup 2027 begin?
The e FIFA Women’s World Cup kicks off on Thursday, 24 June 2027, at the famous Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. The opening match will feature hosts Brazil, who will begin their campaign in front of their home crowd. Brazil’s other two group-stage matches are scheduled for 29 June in São Paulo and 4 July in Brasília. The tournament will conclude with the final on Sunday, 25 July 2027, also at the Maracanã. That means the same legendary stadium will host both the opening match and the final.
Eight Brazilian cities will host the action
The FIFA Women’s World Cup matches will be spread across eight host cities:
- Belo Horizonte – Estádio Mineirão
- Brasília – Estádio Nacional
- Fortaleza – Arena Castelão
- Porto Alegre – Estádio Beira-Rio
- Recife – Arena de Pernambuco
- Rio de Janeiro – Maracanã
- Salvador – Arena Fonte Nova
- São Paulo – Arena Itaquera
Every host city will stage at least seven matches, including at least one knockout-stage game.
What happens during the tournament?
The 32 teams will first compete in the group stage. After that, the tournament moves into the knockout rounds, where teams must win to stay in the competition.
The knockout stages include:
- Round of 16
- Quarter-finals
- Semi-finals
- Third-place play-off
- Final
The quarter-finals will be played in Belo Horizonte, Fortaleza, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The semi-finals will take place in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, before the champions are crowned at the Maracanã.
Fun fact
The 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be the first edition of the tournament held in South America. Brazil will become the first South American country to host the women’s World Cup.
