Three New Extinct Kangaroo Species Named 

Scientists from Flinders University, based in Adelaide, believe that they have discovered three new species of kangaroos that lived millions of years ago. This finding is based on the discovery of several nearly complete kangaroo fossil skeletons in Lake Callabonna in southern Australia.

They even found that one of the species was double the size of the biggest kangaroos alive today, and twice the size of a human! The three new species belong to the extinct Pro- temnodon-giant kangaroo and are known as Protemnodon viator, Protemnodon mamkurraand, and the Protemnodon dawsonae. The Protemnodon viator weighed up to 170 kg, double the weight of the heaviest present day red males. They are believed to have lived around five million to 40,000 years ago.

School Girl Discovers Fossil Of largest Ever Sea Creature

In May 2020, an 11-year-old girl named Ruby Reynolds discovered a fossil in Somerset in the UK. This find has led to the discovery of probably the largest marine reptile ever to have lived. Ruby Reynolds found the first pieces of the sea reptile’s jaw bone while walking on a beach. The bones belonged to a prehistoric sea reptile called an ichthyosaur.

This marine reptile was probably longer than two nose-to-nose buses. It is believed by experts that this creature lived 202 million years. ago at the same time as dinosaurs. After finding the first piece, Ruby and her dad were invited to join a team of scientists who found more jaw pieces that fit precisely. The last piece was found in October 2022. This creature has been named ichthyotitan severnensis, which means giant fish lizard of the Severn.

Astronomers have found the Milky Way’s biggest stellar black hole. Stellar black holes are formed when massive stars collapse at the end of their lives.

BH3 was identified in the latest data gathered by the European Space Agency’s Gaia mission after experts saw an odd wobbling motion on the star that was orbiting the black hole. The existence of the black hole in the Milky Way galaxy was confirmed by powerful telescopes and it was measured at 33 times the mass of the Sun.

Two Brothers Find Bones Of Prehistoric Elephant

9-year-old Constantin and 10-year-old Alexander discovered the bones of a prehistoric elephant, near the district of Erding, in Taufkirchen near Munich. This elephant is believed to be the largest land mammal to have ever lived in Germany.

Experts believe that this prehistoric elephant would have lived somewhere outside of what is now the city of Munich, around 10 million years ago. It would have weighed up to 12 tonnes, with a shoulder height of up to five metres. When the two brothers found the bones, they initially thought it was just some wood.
